About DJ EON
Da Ugliest aka D.J. EON was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up in Dade County, Miami Florida. In the late 80’s as a young b-boy he started to attend many of Miami’s and Puerto Rico’s b-boy events all the while organizing his own promotional campaigns to push his mix tapes. Da Ugliest “DJ EON” arranged many concerts, charity events and his own club nights. Spinning and hosting numerous underground/pirate radio stations, contributing to Miami‘s and Puerto Rico’s Hip Hop music scene. Listening to tapes that his brother’s friends would bring from New York’s D.J.’s Red Alert, Chuck Chill Out, Marley Marl and Clark Kent, Eon wanted Miami to play more Hip Hop on the radio.
Becoming a member of Miami’s chapter “Universal Zulu Nation” Da Ugliest, ventured off to work in street promotions and quickly became Miami’s top retail radio artist developer. Eon has a energetic personality that can light up any room. “Music is in my blood, my dad is a composer/song writer and my mom a vocalist, my brothers and I grew up backstage here and there, all we knew was music, and for the most part, in today’s competitive music business, the responsibility for Artist and Product Development has changed hands. Independent labels and entrepreneurial artists have inherited the responsibility of nurturing new talent by fine-tuning their artistic and business development, and slowly growing their careers over several album releases.
DJ EON is a radio host, producer, promoter, music supervisor, consultant, columnist, journalist, musician and more. His podcast radio programs on, On Q Radio and Paradise Radio air on iTunes. The combined shows boast over 36,000 members and entertain more than 1 million iPod and iTunes listeners worldwide.
Developing a music career for the long haul is all about controlling one’s own destiny” says Ian. In the late 90’s he then relocated to New York to work with a multitude of major companies in the Event, Film and the Music industry. Thinking about his long ride to this point, Eon smiles and says, ” Boy, it has been a rough one but, life is beautiful, every day and every second is important. I love networking with others and I’m so proud of my great kids, for that I feel that god has really blessed me.”With networks across U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and many more.
